| Very few people experience a peaceful, or blissful, mind. People’s minds are generally quite active, busily obsessing over endless desires and fears. They rarely experience the peace and bliss that is available to the quieted mind.
Everyone’s true nature is bliss. There is nothing wrong with desire and fear, they are an essential part of the human experience. But to not be in touch with your bliss is a mistake. Meditation is about taking the time to experience the blissful side of your self. With some practice, you can experience peace. And with more practice, you can experience bliss.
To meditate, quiet your mind and feel the infinite and blissful side of your self. If you need to, follow your breath—as you breathe in and out. If thoughts arise, set them aside or follow them. |
